I'm pleased to announce that we will be using an online learning platform called ScootPad in our classroom. ScootPad is an adaptive practice and mastery program for Math, ELA, Spelling, Reading and Writing - all of which are aligned to our curriculum. ScootPad personalizes learning to your child's individual needs while keeping them motivated and engaged resulting in accelerated mastery and learning. We will begin ScootPad homework towards the beginning of October. If you would like to check it out before then visit the following link: https://www.scootpad.com/role/parent
Reading Calendars:
There will be a monthly reading calendar that you can fill out each night. Aside from the interactive homework, I encourage you to read at least 20 minutes a night with your child. This is one of the most critical ways for a parent to support a child’s education. It helps children develop language/literacy skills, creativity, a love of learning/books, and increased tolerance for activities that require attention/focus! I can also promise that you and your child will later cherish memories of reading together.
Writing
Each week students will complete a writing activity that goes along with the essential question for the week. They will have the opportunity to share what they wrote with their classmates at some point throughout the year. This will begin mid September/beginning of October once students have a chance to adjust to school and the routine. More information will come regarding this assignment.
